Laughing at the Days to Come

The wicked plots against the just,
And gnashes at him with his teeth.
The Lord laughs at him,
For He sees that his day is coming.  (Psalm 37:12-13)

But you, O LORD, laugh at them;
you scoff at all those nations.  (Psalm 59:8)

She is clothed with strength and dignity,
and she laughs without fear of the future.  (Proverbs 31:25)

There's a lot of laughing going on in these verses, isn't there?  But when problems hit us with hurricane force winds, is laughing the first thing that comes to mind?

A joyful heart is a weapon against evil.  Joy in the face of harm is nothing like being mentally unstable or out of touch with reality - though it sure can make us look that way.  It only comes from knowing that if we are joined with God, we have nothing, absolutely nothing to fear.  We can laugh at the problems threatening us because we are sure that together with Him, we have become giants spiritually speaking.

This kind of joy is impossible to fake.  It comes as a result of a deep and intimate relationship with God. It's like a child who knows without a doubt that his big strong dad loves him and will always protect him.  He can climb into bed between mom and dad late at night during a thunderstorm or after a scary dream and feel that complete sense of peace and comfort.

Why are there so few Christians who know Him this well?  Does He only reserve this kind of relationship to an elite few?  What if we just started behaving as if He loved us this much, even though we didn't feel like it?  Do you suppose we'd look like fools and fall flat on our faces, or would He be pleased that we are trying? Could it be that our enemies really will collapse because we choose joy instead of fear?

I guess we'll have to find out for ourselves...!

This is so true! True Joy like the one you mentioned cannot be faked among us humans, because our true self is always revealed with the way we react to problems that come our way, that's when we have to prove to ourselves if it really is this Joy we have, only God can give this to us!
What better than to confide in the one who knows it all! :-)

I've read these verses several times Mrs Evelyn, but never really thought about the laughing part.
Laughing can cancel out fear as, they are both emotions. In these cases the laughter comes as a result of assurance that everything was going to be all right, as God would be dealing with them.
I'm going to start doing this more often, laughing, thus expressing joy, because I know that what ever problem I face God will take care of it.

The joy of God is not something we can put on and off, it is something natural therefore cannot be faked. No matter what comes our way this joy will not fade away it will remain the same .

Hi Mrs. Evelyn I read this yesterday:
"I am the One who comforts you. Who are you that you should fear man who dies, or a son of man who is given up like grass?
But you have forgotten the Lord, your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth.
You are in constant dread all day long because the fury of the oppressor, who has set himself to destroy.
But where is the oppressor?
The prisoner is soon to be set free; he will not die... and his food will not be lacking.
For I am the Lord your God..."

We are only in dread all day long if we forget the God that cares for us. He assures us that He has not forgotten us.

Yes, Its true Mrs.Evelyn just like in a saying that Laughter is the best Medicine. Through laughing we can say that we are happy. It is also the assurance that no matter problems may come or may happened as long as we live it to GOD we can still laugh because we know that GOD is there to help us.

Mrs. Evelyn,
It's true when something bad happens to us we don't feel joyful at first. When you have God you know that nothing can bother you. It's important to know Him like you said even if we don't feel it we should act like He loves us this much and He'll be pleased that we're trying. Being joyful is something the devil doesn't want you to have and to be joyful would show that you did not fall for his trap.

Hello Mrs.Evelyn
Thank you for this message. And this is true because sometimes we try to fake joy but we can't. Many times we laugh on the outside but on the inside we are crying and the only way we can have true joy is if we have God! Thaks again and may God bless!

After reading this, I considered how much my relationship with God has changed over the years. In the beginning I did not know this kind of joy. Things would worry we, make me anxious, upset, overly emotional etc. But as time has gone by and I have come to know God more and have a deeper relationship with Him, I can truly say that he has given me the joy that is expressed in this blog. Sometimes I think about myself and the way that I cope with certain situations and I realise that nothing will phase me to the point of devastation and despair, because this joy is within me and as long as I maintain and even strengthen that bond with my God, this joy can never be taken away from me. It is a beautiful thing to have.

Reading this, I could see how much I have grown spiritually speaking as a result of investing in my relationship with God. Before any problem would throw me of guard and I would be in constant worry. Lately, things have not been going according to plan and problems have been arising out of the blue but I have had this indescribable peace and joy inside of me and I believe as God is with me I will overcome.
